  7. Sound Icons are sounds for the Newton OS.

  11. - Add sounds to your Newton device.
  12. - Use sounds in System Prefs and other applications.
  13. - Allow tapping on icon to play the sound.
  14. - Present a popup menu if the sound icon contains multiple sounds.
  15. - Automatically file away into the "Sounds" folder in the Extras Drawer.
  16. - May be filed, frozen, and deleted like other icons.

  18. Requirements

  20. Requires Newton OS 2.0 and 2.1.
  21.  
  22. Installation
  23. ------------
  24. Install the .pkg file as you would with other Newton software, by downloading it to your Newton device using the Newton Connection Utilities, Newton Backup Utility, Newton Package Installer, or other package installation utility.

  26. If you have created a folder named "Sounds" in the Extras Drawer, the package will automatically be filed into it, otherwise it will appear in Unfiled Icons. You can then file the Sound Icon anywhere.

  30. Tap on the Sound Icon to play it.

  32. If the Sound Icon contains multiple sounds, a popup menu will appear in the upper left corner of the screen. Tap on a name of a sound to play it.

  34. You may change System Prefs sounds to play a Sound Icon sound for alerts and alarms. The Sound Icon sound name(s) will automatically appear in the list of sounds. Some applications may also support this.
